ON POPULARITY WITH THE IGNORANT MASSES (September 22, 2019)

Of all the prophets in my wake, the Buddha has done worst. His legacy is relegated to a small swath of geography, let alone human population. But why? The only answer I can come up with at this juncture is that he was the best prophet of all. More advanced than others, and by a wide margin, he failed to impress the ignorant masses, who always go for the worst, including the prophets. Most important, they go for gods galore. The more, the merrier. Behold, the religious sentiment sweeping the planet explained in just a few words. Pace Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad, not to mention so many others of the same ilk, such as Karl Marx of my youth, but there is a price to popularity with the hoi polloi. Given the present stage of human evolution, the crown goes to the hindmost without fail. The Buddha be praised.
