Very early this morning a colleague of mine was walking down the stairs of our building as I was walking up. He was all dressed up. He must have forgotten something he needed at an early meeting away from the office. “How are you?” I beamed at him. He gave me a crooked smile: “Not well enough!” I burst out laughing and he joined me. The stairs rang out with our laughter. The joy of unexpected communion.
