AN IDEA FOR A SHOW: A LETTER TO CHARLES SAATCHI (September 24, 2000)
I assume you have been collecting my postcards about art and the art world, including those critical of you and your collection. How about blowing them up and showing them in the Saatchi Gallery? First, they are already yours and will thus cost you nothing. Second, you have the means to blow them up to monumental size. In color, they will look stunning on your white walls. Third, exhibiting my postcards will show that you have come of age. You will demonstrate that you can look at the art world and yourself within it with dispassion and humor. I am sure the show would turn out to be a watershed in your own development as a collector and gallerist. What do you say?
