BLIND LANDING (September 26, 2000)

My building at the University of Reading is so long that it has three entrances and stairwells. The one I take when I come to work I like the least. At that end the building has four floors, while the rest of the building has three floors. In the morning, when I walk to the third floor, where my office is located, I walk past a landing from which there is no access to the building. Actually, it provides access to the projection rooms of two large lecture halls, both of which take two floors in height. The projection rooms are locked most of the time. I always rush through the blind landing. It gives me the creeps. For some reason, I noticed this only today, ten years after I moved to Reading and into this building.
