ELLA GURU’S HAIRSTYLE (September 6, 2000)

In a dream I saw Ella Guru, a Stuckist and the postmistress the group’s website (www.stuckism.com). Her hair was made up into a tight bun perched high on top of her head. It was golden blond and it shone in the sunshine. She was sitting in the passenger seat in front of a dark blue Fiat 500. A man in the driver’s seat, presumably her partner, was parking the car in what appeared to be an empty parking lot. The back seat of the small car was piled high with stuff. They appeared to be on vacation in some sunny place. Ella was holding a baby boy of an unusual size. He was simply huge. The infant’s hair was the same color as his mother’s, but it was curly. I remember being delighted for having immediately recognized Ella, whom I have never actually seen. Only when I woke up I realized her exaggerated hairstyle came from her paintings posted on the Stuckist site. As she explains on her own web page, she “likes to paint transgendered beasts.”
