DUCKING (May 4, 2007)

It is raining heavily, and it is quite dark, but it is warm and muggy, too. The door at Klaudio’s is left wide open. As I am sipping my wine, an old lady appears at the door. Holding an umbrella, she peers hesitantly into the café. Leaning to one side, she keeps surveying the place for a while. Having decided to come in, after all, she starts closing her umbrella in the narrow doorway. Its dripping side hits the top of her gray head. Startled, she ducks. My thoughts at once go to Federico Fellini. He would have loved this little ducking scene.
