REUNION, SEPARATION (March 29, 2007)
If reunion is at the core of many a story of renown, then separation must be at the core of human experience. Nomadic wandering, marriage, travel, war, madness—there are mighty separators galore. And there is death, the mightiest separator of them all. Stories of reunion therefore soothe the best, for the dread of separation always lurks in the dark. But the longing for reunion goes deeper, much deeper. It touches everyone, too. For the dream of finding oneself, and coming to peace with oneself at long last, underlies all others. The mother of all reunions. And the core of many a story of renown.
