STREET DRUGS (March 31, 2007)

Thus the title of yesterday’s presentation organized by Motovun’s Youth Association, which was set up only a few months ago. Buttressed by a slide show, it was given by a Croatian Red Cross psychiatrist, who seems to be touring the country with his presentation. Although on the dry side, it was quite educational. This was the very first time I had an opportunity to hear about everything that is on the booming market right now. And to see how everything on offer looked, too. Having no experience with street drugs whatsoever, I learned quite a lot. As for the kids and parents in the audience, they learned that it was ultimately up to the kids themselves to say no to drugs. Of course, the good doctor had nothing to say about all the off-street drugs, to coin a term. All kinds of psychoactive plants and mushrooms growing in these parts for millennia were left out. As were their ancient uses by local shamans. That would only confuse the poor audience, to be sure.
