THE MUSIC LOVERS (March 23, 2007)
A few days ago I got from some friends a used compact disk with Romantic music for the organ: Mendelssohn, Brahms, Liszt… The organist is the same, and it is his selection. The friends who gave me the compact disk could not listen to it any longer. And so I put it on. I have heard only a few pieces, but I am thinking of friends I could pass it on already. Romantic music is not my cup of tea, anyway. In fact, it makes me kind of angry. But, true to my feelings in general, I am not angry with the poor composers, let alone the humble organist; rather, I am angry with the music lovers who projected them into the limelight. As always, I am angry with the people, the masses, the rabble, the herd. That is, the very same music lovers who eventually projected into the limelight the likes of Mussolini, Hitler, Franco…
