SIBLING LOVE (September 2, 2008)
When I came to the hotel terrace this afternoon, I immediately noticed that there were two brothers with their wives and children at a neighboring table. They were German. A few minutes after I sat down, two sisters with their husbands and children sat at another neighboring table. They were Italian. And only minutes afterwards two brothers with their girlfriends sat at yet another neighboring table. They were Russian. I have long noticed that brothers and sisters from all over the world often travel together, but this must have been a record: three pairs of siblings from different countries at the same place and at the same time. To my surprise, they appeared not to look at the neighboring tables. Actually, they were quite oblivious to their surroundings. I would not be surprised if they all thought that they were quite unique in their sibling love.
