THREE CANDLES (September 4, 2008)

It is summer still, and no mistake, but I am already honing my fall and winter skills. This evening I lit three candles and watched them burn. My eyes flitted from one to another with every flicker of flame and every drop of wax. My mind zipped from one to another without a single thought. With three candles, there is no way of telling what will happen next. And there are candles aplenty in my house. Enough for the fall and the winter both, no matter how long and lonesome.
