“SIGNALING POST-SNOWDEN ERA, iPHONE 6 BLOCKS NSA” (September 27, 2014)

Thus The New York Times today. “Intelligence agencies say the move, in which the new iPhone creates a unique code that scrambles information, is the first of new technologies designed to defeat court orders to turn over information,” explains the newspaper. Very clever, this. Apple is ahead of its times, as ever. The news will make the new gadget even more popular than before. The trick it uses to block the National Security Agency will be copied left and right by other producers of mobile-phones, tablets, laptops, and the like. But the trick goes much farther, of course. It gets all the spies off the hook, as well. At least for the time being, they will play dead. And gladly. For a new Snowden is in the works already, and it will turn out sooner or later that NSA has gotten around all the tricks designed to block their surveillance. Spies will not be deterred by mere technology, no matter how clever. Only the idiots need Snowdens, anyway.
