ON INTUITION (October 7, 2014)
My vision of things to come is so clear, and I am so certain of what I foresee, that I am occasionally puzzled by it. Whence the clarity? Whence the certainty? These questions pop up every now and then, and especially after I talk with friends and acquaintances about my vision. The demise of our civilization may take a few centuries, and maybe even a few millennia, but it will follow predictable steps, for humans are not capable of great departures from the beaten path. By and by, hunting and gathering will be the mainstay of the remaining humans once again. And this is best thought of as the light at the end of the tunnel, for humans are best suited for the stone age. Back to Eden, as it were. That is the vision in so many words, but whence the clarity and certainty?
Am I suffering from a delusion of some kind? Even worse, am I suffering from dementia of some kind? In either case, can my mental condition be cured? Truth to tell, I have just spent some time searching for the clues on the World Wide Web. Although I have managed to find a few things of marginal interest, my search has been rather unsuccessful in general. What is worse, I have come across too many silly ideas that are not worth repeating here. Predictably enough, most of them are religious in origin. Attempts at bringing religion and science together are the pits. In short, I will leave my delusion or dementia to the entertainment of others.
What if clarity and certainty have an entirely different origin, though? In particular, what if human intuition is occasionally capable of special heights? If something of this ilk is the case, my intuition will be shared by a few others. Which is the key reason why I am interested in sharing my thoughts on the World Wide Web. My book on climate change is the case in point. Completed only a short while ago, it brings my vision to light at long last. And all I really want from it is to see how my vision matches with that of others. Chosen others, I am inclined to add, but the religious undertone of this much-abused adjective makes me shudder. The others I have in mind cannot be many, but they would still signal the existence of intelligence that goes well beyond the individual. Fingers crossed.
