POOR METEOROLOGISTS (September 16, 2014)
According to the Hydro-Meteorological Institute of Croatia, the northern part of the Istrian peninsula is not supposed to have any rain today. It is supposed to rain only in its southern part. And yet, I am watching one rain after another from my window. Although the rain bypasses Motovun, it falls between the hilltown and the coast. The heavy clouds carried by a northern wind are disgorging quite a bit of rain, too. At any rate, I cannot but think of the forecast, which was decided upon yesterday evening. How could the meteorologists err so crassly? But I am not cross with them, I hasten to add. Not the least bit. In fact, I feel sorry for them. It must be horrible to witness your own profession rendered useless by climate change. Poor meteorologists, indeed. But my thoughts soon take me to a whole bunch of professions that will be rendered useless by climate change in the fullness of time. Meteorologists are only leading the pack into oblivion. As I keep watching the rain from my window, I cannot but feel sorry for them all. And the rain keeps falling and falling.
